Reply with quote | #1 | Hi,
Does anyone know if Martin's Mercantile is still in business? I thought they were the ones that sold 1870s jeans and 1920s bibs.
Thanks

Reply with quote | #2 | Which Martin's ? The one listed by Google is in Suches, Georgia, and doesn't sell any clothes of any type. __________________ Museum of Western Reserve Farms & Equipment |

Reply with quote | #3 | Hi Rick,
The only thing I can think of is Mrs. Martin's Mercantile and Millinery (Judith A. Martin), 4566 Oakhurst St., Sylvania, OH 43560. Tel: (419) 474-2093. She is mostly a Civil war Sutler, and I don't know how active she still is. Could you have been thinking of River Junction Trade Company? They focus on the last quarter 19th century with a real emphasis on Cowboys. Hope this helps!
All the Best,

"Hamilton Dry Goods" sells reproduction blue jeans ("Old '73s") with the one rear pocket and belted back, if that is what you are looking for. They do not have a printed catalogue but have a website and sell goods through it. As far as I know they do not carry the bib/apron style overalls. Dennis

Reply with quote | #5 | Hi Rick,
If you're looking for low-back bibs, try Pointer Brand. Their web site is http://www.pointerbrand.com They may have discontinued the button fly low-back but the zipper fly is still on the web site. They also sell denim chore coats.
They have been great about taking purchase orders and dealing with sporadic buying patterns. You will have to talk to the owner before the sales person will let you use a P.O. the first time. |
