Call for papers for the 15th triennial conference of the International Association of Agricultural Museums (AIMA) Association internationale des musées d'agriculture - http://icom.museum/affiliates/aima.html ) an ICOM affiliate organization.

Location: Novi Sad & Kulpin, Serbia
When: September 21-26, 2008 with optional conference tours scheduled on September 27 & 28.
Conference organizer and AIMA president: Dr. Jan Kisgeci (jankisgeci@eunet.yu, poljmuz@eunet.yu)
Conference Theme: Agricultural Museums: A Rich Past, A Living Future
Deadline for paper submissions and conference registration: July 15, 2008

Conference organizers welcome papers that address critical issues in museum operations, specifically, how agricultural museum can remain relevant in a changing world. Agricultural museums have focused mainly on 19th century rural life and technological change over time. How can agricultural museums keep pace as residents of communities and nations experience rapid urbanization and industrialization. What do visitor studies indicate about museum goers' goals and preferences? What potential exists for agricultural museums to address modern issues related to increased food costs, use of synthetic chemicals and environmental degradation, and the scale of corporate agriculture? How do efforts to expand the scope of agricultural museum affect collecting and interpretive goals?  Papers that draw on visitor studies, museum master planning, funding and development, collection strategies including both intangible and tangible artifacts, and exhibit and public programming development are particularly welcome.
